The Professional Development Committee is excited to announce that our 4th annual Mid-Career Conference, “Improving Efficiency So We Can Do More of the Stuff We Love.”
GCC members who have been working in graduate and/or postdoc career and professional development for more than one year are encouraged to attend this immersive half-day webinar to connect with colleagues and learn from featured speakers Tracy Costello and Evan Walsh about tools and approaches to maximize the work they love. Information about each of their exciting sessions is below:

Session 1: Unlocking Your Potential: Mid-Career Career Re-Evaluation  

Tracy Costello
Speaker: Tracy Costello, Ph.D., Director, Postdoctoral Affairs and Graduate Student Development, University of South Florida

This workshop session is designed for mid-career professionals who are considering what next career steps fit best within their career vision and trajectory. Broadly, we will discuss values and interests within one’s career (including a self-assessment interactive activity), discuss side hustles including coaching, consulting, facilitation, volunteer opportunities, etc, how to build brand and expertise in the area of interest, and how to mentor and be mentored, network and connect with opportunities.  We'll leverage the GCC IDP for mid-career professionals and interactive/self-reflective activities during this session.

Session 2: AI-Powered Efficiency: Free Up Time for High-Impact Career Support

This session will focus on leveraging generative AI to enhance efficiency in career and professional development roles. We will discuss how AI can streamline administrative tasks, generate tailored content, assist in strategic planning, and free up time for more high-impact, student-focused work. You will also gain practical insights into AI tools that can support your work with graduate students and postdocs in areas such as career advising, program management, and grants.
